Director and photographer Doug Hancock is in pre-production of his first feature documentary named ‘Our American Rodeo’. This feature documentary is about the impact rodeo has on two Native American communities the Oglala Lakota and the Blackfeet. Forced to make the transition from nomadic life to reservations; with their buffalo slaughtered, their religion outlawed, and separated from their children, some found a new way for their culture to survive. They chose ranching and rodeo.

Our American rodeo explores the intersection of self, tribal and national identity within the context of an America struggling to find its own. This is a story about the healing spirit of rodeo and the people who ride to keep an open heart and clear mind against fear, division and adversity.
